“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
You may have watched an absolutely bad movie recently; but did that stop you from watching movies altogether?
Ok, the book you just finished reading could have been much better; but will that make you give up your reading habit?
Not really – Right?
Life moves on no matter what!
If you want to see a change in your life, you will work towards it.
If you are not happy with your job, you will find another…
If your relationship is not working out, you will walk out of it…
What you need is courage to move ahead. Unfortunately most people do not have this courage. They keep remembering their past and regretting things that they did yesterday. They never move on.
Would you believe it if I say most people go to their graves, with their masterpieces in their heads?
In fact there are many who do not finish what they began, for various reasons. A few of these reasons could be legitimate; but not all.
I happened to talk to an Uber driver recently. He said he was working on a screenplay, which he just couldn’t finish, because there was so much driving he had to do.
A woman that I was conversing with said that she was really jealous of her friend because of the business she had started. She had nourished a similar business idea in her heart for years now; but she just hadn’t pulled the trigger yet.
There is always something… right? It could be your health…. Your job…. Your kids… Or just about anything else.
As the owner of a branding company I can tell you, with full confidence, that there never is a good time to take up a new initiative or start your business – NEVER. You will always find many reasons why you should not start one.
Ok, all ideas may not work; but for those who have been sitting on some of the most brilliant business ideas should put in efforts to overcome that which has been holding them back till now – their inhibitions. If you give in to your inhibitions, your thoughts would be suppressed forever. You need to let go and explore heavily into your ideas, stroking that fire and blowing the wind into your sail.
We all are experts at setting goals; but when it comes to achieving them we often end up procrastinating. So, what is it that stops us from moving towards achieving our goals?
If it is your habit to procrastinate, all that you need to do is change that habit and get used to taking action.
If it is too costly or risky, try and reduce the cost or risk levels to an acceptable level. You can do this by discussing with a friend and coming up with a list of possibilities.
Set deadlines to achieve your goals and make sure you stick to them as far as possible.
Life is not always a bed of roses; there are times that are tougher. There are decisions that we need to make, whether they are good or bad. There are times when we feel absolutely lost. We all need that little push that gives the energy we need to move ahead in life – to accept our failures and gain courage to make another attempt – to prepare in a better way to face the challenges that life throws at us.
The day you start something is very important in your life. It is like going running or hitting the gym the very first day. Without it, there is absolutely nothing. If there is no first day, everything else would cease to exist, just like the dominoes.
It is just that little nudge you need to begin that day. Sometimes that nudge is all that you need to put you on the right path to achieve your goals.
It was this men’s 800-meter race of the Summer Olympic Games in 1984. 0.71 seconds was what the margin of victory was – not even one second.
1.54 seconds has been the average margin of victory in the Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500 (combined) since the past decade or so.
The prize money that you get for second place is not even half of what you would get if you reach the first place.
It is just a little more effort that you have to put in to win the first place. That little push can help you break ahead of the pack. It is all that you need to inspire yourself, drive forward, take that first step and move on in spite of the tough challenges you may have to overcome.
I am sure there are many books, people and inspirational seminars that can motivate you. Nevertheless, the best source of motivation is the one that comes from within you. You are the one who understands yourself completely. You are the only one who can inspire yourself to give it your best.
So, be optimistic and rid yourself of all those negative thoughts that curb your abilities and stop you from taking the necessary actions to move ahead in life.
Monitor your progress and reward yourself whenever you achieve something, no matter how small or big.
Surround yourself with people you want to be with and get some peer pressure that can help you work harder to achieve your goals.
We often tend to forget who we are while stuck in the struggles of daily life. There are times when we get lost; but that doesn’t mean we keep wandering aimlessly for the rest of our lives. If you believe in yourself and your dreams, it is only that little nudge that you need, to start putting in efforts to achieve them.
Have a clear mind, focus on your goals and get going!
